Effective as of 5:00 PM JST Friday July 23 2021
Explanatory notes:
Hot and humid throughout with the risk of showers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period.
On Saturday, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to form over inland areas and to the north (and also about the Peninsula) in the afternoon with solar heating, northeasterly steering flow results in the slight (20%) chance of a shower or thunderstorm being advected over the city.
On Sunday, again isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to form over inland areas and to the north (and also about the Peninsula) in the afternoon with solar heating, stronger northeasterly steering flow results in a slightly higher risk of a shower or thunderstorm advecting over the city.
On Monday and Tuesday, conditions depend upon the movement and development of a tropical system currently in the Northwest Pacific. Still a high degree of uncertainty on the development and movement of this system as the system is still in its early stage of its life cycle.
By Wednesday, this tropical system likely would lie away from the Tokyo region and hot and humid conditions continue. Again isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to form over inland areas and to the north (and also about the Peninsula) in the afternoon with solar heating, however, likely southerly/onshore steering flow means on a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm over the city, the risk mainly comes from advection from the Peninsula.
The possibility of an upper level trough lying within the vicinity of the region towards the end of the forecast period results in further risk of showers and thunderstorms, still some uncertainty on the details this far out.
